Blije Wijnen — Happy Wines
Happy Wines are Natural Wines
Rotterdam-based entrepreneur Maud van Berlo started importing natural wines (healthy grapes, no additives) from all over Europe for a small circle of natural wine lovers. Since then, the circle has grown to a substantial number and Maud is now a phenomenon with her Happy Wines in the Rotterdam region. Pure, surprising flavours and… extremely happy wines! As you will also taste in the total visual identity.
Blije Wijnen — Visual identity
Round & Round
While translating the Happy Wines story into a recognizable brand for Rotterdam residents, something interesting popped up — Everything involved in the winemaking process has a connection with one of the strongest basic shape on earth; the circle. — From the grape, to the wine barrel, the bottle and the final wine in your glass… viewed from above… everything can be traced back to a circle. The perfect visual ingredient to grow our happy natural patterns with.
Blije Wijnen — Brand communication
Brand colors
The brand colors are connected to the natural wine pallet. They communicate red wine, white wine, rosé wine, orange wine (yes, orange; made from white grapes with skin and seed still attached, given it the orange color during the fermentation process), bubbles and pet nat (the purest of all).
Brand typography
The typeface (font) used in the brand communication is called ‘Mint Grotesk’, designed by love letters type foundry. The way they described the typeface can also be said about Maud as entrepreneur:
Built like a workhorse yet playful like a kitten, Mint is a display Grotesk with an eccentric personality.

Natural wine lovers
Besides the natural wine maker and natural wine importer, the natural wine lover is equally important. No wine to love if no wine is made and visa versa. We know, we absolutely love it! This round is on me!
Santé!
